New Italian Summer Flavors

Delicious, portable selections feature warm, restaurant-baked ciabatta bread

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Fazoli’s “fast Italian” restaurants, after introducing its guest-pleasing “Aaaahtalian Menu” in May, already has two great additions for its Italian Summer Flavors promotion—a collection of enhanced and even more delicious Submarinos® and Panini sandwiches.

The Submarinos® sandwiches are made with new Italian white or multi-grain ciabatta bread, while the Panini line is extra appealing with a new herb-ciabatta bread.  Both bread styles come fresh from the oven.  They’re warm and soft on the inside and have a crunchy golden crust on the outside.

“Both are perfect matches to the new Italian Summer Flavors sandwich recipes,” said Fazoli’s Chief Executive Officer Bob Weissmueller.

The Italian Beef Submarinos® is a hearty sandwich loaded with roast beef, melted provolone and a zesty mix of peppers and onions for a little kick.  Other Submarinos® sandwiches are the Club, the Ham & Swiss and the Original.

The Grilled Chicken Panini features a tasty chicken breast, crisp lettuce, ripe sliced tomatoes, roasted veggies and melted provolone.  Other Panini choices are the Four Cheese Panini and the Smoked Turkey Panini.

The Club Submarinos® and the Grilled Chicken Panini are accented by a Caponata spread, a relish of Sicilian origin that features roasted eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, red and green bell peppers, onion and tomato, all flavored with balsamic vinegar, basil and chopped capers.

Weissmueller described the new selections as tasty, fun and delicious—whether they are enjoyed in the friendly atmosphere of a Fazoli’s restaurant or in the drive-thru.

“They’re a perfect way to take the tastes of Fazoli’s anywhere you want.  The Italian Summer Flavor items are fast, fresh and great on the go,” he said.

Fazoli’s, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., has 315 restaurants in 33 states, and Weissmueller predicted the new Submarinos® and Paninis “will be a hit throughout the nation. Our guests love our style of ‘fast Italian,’ and these new sandwiches are sure to please.”

The two new sandwich lines expand the guest-driven menu introduced in May.  Highlights are four crisp Italian Market Salads, meaty and cheese-filled lasagna, six-cheese ravioli and three fruity new Italian Ice flavors.

“Today’s guests demand food that is fast, fresh and easy to take with them, and Fazoli’s Italian Summer Flavors delivers exactly that,” Weissmueller said.
